Mr. Asad Mustafa is working as Research Associate at CLE and has been in the area of Linguistics and Research for the last 14 years. He has done M.A. (Urdu) from Punjab University, Lahore. Currently, he is providing linguistic support for developing TTS (Text to speech) system for Mobile Based Weather Dialog System. He is involved in corpus cleaning, phonetic analysis, the IPA transcription of the selected corpus and word segmentation tasks. He was significantly involved in the development of the guidelines for Urdu corpus collection, selection and cleaning. He was also involved in content development of Computer books and Online Dictionary in Urdu Language. As a team lead, along with the team, he finalized the phonetic inventory of Urdu language after in-depth acoustic research and transcribed 40,000 Urdu headwords for the bilingual Urdu-English dictionary by Oxford University Press, Pakistan. He has revisited the POS tag set for Urdu Language in accordance with syntactic approach and manually tagged 100K Urdu high frequency words. He participated mainly in the development of Urdu Word- net by using merge approach. He was also involved in the technical review of the TEI tagged and transcribed Persian text. |
