Ms. Benazir Mumtaz is a Senior Research Officer at Center for Language Engineering in UET. She Holds M.A. degree and currently enrolled in M.Phil. Applied Linguistics Program at Kinnaird College for Women, Lahore. She is working on her dissertation and her research is focused on the development of a mechanism for determining Urdu stress using acoustic cues.
In the area of NLP research, she is leading a team of linguists who are developing and annotating 10 hours speech corpus for Urdu language. For development and annotation of Urdu speech corpus, she is responsible for the recording, sentence segmentation, phoneme level annotation, word boundary identification and labeling, stress marking, break index and intonation level annotations.
