Ms. Saba Urooj is a Senior Research Officer at CLE. She has done MPhil in Applied Linguistics and has research experience of about 7 years in the field of Natural Language Processing (NLP). Her responsibilities under DAAD project include development of Linguistic resources Wordnet, a semantic dictionary of Urdu, and corpus. She has participated in collection, design and cleaning of 100k, 500k and 1 million CLE Urdu Digest Corpus. She has also been involved in adding grammatical (POS tagging) and semantic (sense tagging) layers on this corpus. She was involved in the OCR Project as content developer, where she has worked on management of text image corpus development for 18-44 point sizes. She has been involved in teaching functional Urdu to foreigner students enrolled in UET, with the aim of enabling them to interact in the classroom and comprehend day to day communication. She has also been involved in teaching Urdu Syntax to students of Speech and Language Pathology at University of the Punjab. Currently, she is managing the project of Intonation. The focus of the project is to learn the behavior of Urdu intonation and its relation with Urdu syntax to develop an Urdu language based text-to speech synthesis system. |
