Subh-e-Nau is a collaborative project of Center for Language Engineering (CLE), Al –Khawarizmi Institute of Computer Sciences (KICS), University of the Engineering and Technology (UET) Lahore and All Pakistan Women Association (APWA), Punjab. The project aims to build capacity of women survivors of violence to create their digital stories and use online support networks for self healing and voicing their concerns. This project is funded by Bytes for All, Pakistan and Pakistan Software Houses Association for IT and ITeS (P@SHA) through a sub-grant provided by Association for Progressive Communications-Women’s Networking Support Programme (APC-WNSP) for the implementation of MDG3: Take Back the Tech! to end violence against women project. Pakistani women, specifically women survivors of violence are sharing their stories across the globe through Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs). By using these digital mediums, they are actively communicating amongst themselves and with lawyers to attain social and legal justice. Through these digital platforms, women at grassroots level are creating a global influence to counter violence against women. |
| Project Mission |
Women are enthusiastic in learning ICTs for enhancing their skills. They are committed to participate in the digital story telling training and publish their stories on the Internet. They are attending the training sessions being held at All Pakistan Women Association Punjab headquarters and are creatively developing their digital stories. They are learning to use the online support network to report their issues through this medium. They are interacting with other women survivors of violence and lawyers through this support network for legal help. |
